Two Very Important High Jump Drills

Within this article, we are going to discuss two very important high jump drills, approach runs and three step jumps.

Approach Runs: Among the most important, but still overlooked high jumping areas is the consistency related to the approach of the jumper. In the event that your desires are to effectively clear the bar, you are going to need to pass completely over the bar at precisely your highest point. In the event that you are going to be jumping from a completely different spot each attempt that you make, you may be attempting to work on your back arch or leg kick when really and truly, and all you have to do is jump from the exact same spot each time.

In order to successfully accomplish this, all you are going to need to do is spend a day performing jumps with a camera or friend and then select the perfect spot for you to take off from. Then, the very next workout day, you are going to be doing running approaches all day long until you are able to hit the spot each and every time. After you have become consistent, then you may be able to tell whether or not you are hitting it with your back or legs and you will be able to make all of the necessary adjustments from that point.

Three Step Jumps: Another one of the high jump drills that you need to practice is the three step jumps; the three step approach is a really great take-off from the bar and an awareness drill. Begin by placing your toe on the take off point and then take about three to four steps backward, but directly away from the bar. Once you have done this, you are going to turn slight to the right and then run a very shot curve and attempt on the bar six to eight inches below your absolute best.

Then you are going to work on your individual knee drive and your arm drives for a couple of jumps because you begin working on your technique in the air. Overall, this little drill is going to help you to achieve a wonderful lean at the bar without even having to do a complete approach over and over again so that you are able to focus on all of your bar awareness and planting without having to worry about your overall approach.

Overall, these are the high jump drills that you need to participate in, once you have been able to master all of these drills, you will be able to be a much better jumper and double your vertical leap altogether.
